Shalom beloveds!! First and foremost:
🐛I want to start off by saying: ROMANS 8:28... We have to remember that HIS will!! NoT ours be done! Doesn’t matter if Leah understood the reasons for her being 1st but 2nd choice... and while I am sure that played on her self esteem and emotional stamina.. Sis, #Endured.🦋
🔥Let’s dive into these scriptures:
Genesis 29:31-35 (and actually Gen 30 as well) And when the Lord saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren. And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the Lord hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me. And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because the Lord hath heard I was hated, he hath therefore given me this son also: and she called his name Simeon. And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi. And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the Lord: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing.
👏🏾Here’s where I wanted to get to! Through this scripture you see: she conceived. She conceived again. And again. All while Rachel was barren. Not without cause. Leah was hated. Rachel was loved... by man! But Leah was loved in a different way.. see if you trace the lineage of The Messiah... it leads not to Rachel but Leah.. I pray that you take time to research it... it is so important sisters.
So here in the scriptures I wanted to to see a few things! I promised my sister Marcie I would make this one short and sweet..👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾
While Jacob I am sure loved her as a sister and cousin.. He didn’t love her truly like a wife.. I imagine over her time maybe he loved her because she gave him 6 sons.. BUT What is interesting is that the Bible tells men not to look for a wife based upon her beauty, but upon her set apartness .. Is her character rooted in righteousness? Proverbs 31:30 says, “Favour is deceitful, and BEAUTY IS VAIN: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.” Let that sink in. And while she wasn’t “favored”... in the end it was Leah who was given ~FAVOR~ by The Most High!
Leah wanted to please Jacob. Although he was not too enthusiastic about being tricked into marrying her.. stop her for a minute sis.. can you imagine how she must have been treated? Remember, the instructions on how to deal with multiple wives were not written yet.. while I am sure their were some “customs” In place... we didn’t get the statues until later in the Torah. However she was still submissive. She still desired to please him by giving him a son.. remember above she said when she had Reuben, “Surely the Lord hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.”
The Most High ordinarily chooses to exalt what men have rejected (1 Sam. 16:6–13; Acts 4:11; James 4:10), and we clearly see Leah is NO exception. She was given one of the most honorable things a woman could do for a man, birth a son to carry on his lineage. Daughters are a blessing to, Leah also bearer Jacob a daughter, Dinah! But remember the lineage continues from the man (Numbers 1:18).. So She would go on to conceive, conceive, and continue to continue to bear many of the sons to Jacob that will make up the twelve tribes of Israel. Most notable of these sons, of course, is Judah, for whom Leah offers praise to The Most High (Gen. 29:35). This looks to the day thousands of years later when Judah’s greatest Son opened the way for all peoples to praise the Creator (Matt. 1:2; 5:16; Heb. 6:19–20).
🙏🏾✍🏾The message I wanted to get to is simple. It doesn’t matter if you are deemed beautiful by mere men... because that beauty WILL fade over time.. and scripture tells us this: Ecclesiastes 3:11 - He hath made every [thing] beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end Rachel was beautiful in the beginning but Leah was favored in the end! ... which is where I close at: Sorry Sis Marcie I tried lol!!!
🙌🏾While Rachel was chosen by Jacob.. Leah was chosen by The MOST HIGH for a wifely task like nobody’s business!! 😳After reading this.. how can we doubt that HE won’t exalt us in His own timing? If you are reading this and feel unloved and unwanted, know that The Most High loves you and will raise you up in HIS good time. As long as you have something to offer: obedience. Not only would Leah’s obedience and submission grant her favor from The Creator.. she would later have the honor of mothering the priestly (Levi) and royal (Judah) tribes of Israel, she is also ultimately the mother of the Savior who Himself embodies both of these roles (Heb. 7:11–22). If this amazing honor was given to Leah, how can we doubt that The Most High WILL exalt us in His own timing? While Rachel was deemed beautiful and favored in the eyes of men.. Leah had favor in the eyes of The Most High! #ThatIsTheDifference .. strive for that favor... Shalom💕
