#WOMENOFTHESCRIPTURES: ACT 2 LEAH: GROUNDED

Updated: Aug 14, 2020

Shalom sisters!! Sorry so late!! Our #WomenOfTheScriptures Conf Call ran late! But the Set Apartness was allll up and thru that thang!! Ok let’s get to it!

So we left off yesterday with the notion that Rachel was beautiful and favored.. while Leah was labeled: Tender Eyed.. Let’s get a better understanding of that before we move on! Stick with me sis, I’m going somewhere with this! According to the Strong’s Definitions: tender eyed means: rak, rak; from H7401; tender (literally or figuratively); by implication, weak:—faint(-hearted), soft, tender ((-hearted), one), weak.

I even read where it meant she was crossed eyed🤦🏾‍♀️😅... seriously 😒! Just goes to show you! But compared to Rachel.. she was deemed weak.. I applied how some of us who deal with low self esteem sometimes look down when we are around others who WE deem as more beautiful than us or we don’t think WE are worthy.. or WE declare someone is better than us..so it’s this look that I imagine Leah had. Now remember she was older.. and I am sure others raved on how “beautiful” she was in the sight of man #SomebodyGonnaGetItOnThe2ndRead🔥Why do you say that Channah? Well scripture says Rachel was beautiful and favored.. so we know she was admired. So Leah knew this.. BUT Remember, Proverbs 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised ... NOW before you beautiful sisters come with nothing wrong with being pretty.. I can only say I totally agree... but I missed the point! Please reread it! But now I get Leah’s demeanor was really one of a humble spirit..soft, meek.. yet some describe it as weak!! ...But tisk, tisk... the meek will... (Matthew 5:5)...but y’all don’t hear y’all sister... ok ok scripture time!

‼️Genesis 29:18 And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter. And Laban said, It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me. And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her. And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her. And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast. And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her. And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid. And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me

Ok.. so we see that Jacob loved Rachel and vowed to serve Laban for 7 years to marry Rachel.. he did keep his end of the bargain.. however Laban did not due to his own selfishness.. [Philippians 2:3-[Let] nothing [be done] through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves] So he tricked Jacob into marrying Leah by having her show up at the feast and Jacob went into her and made her his wife.. 😒Now this has never sat right with me!! I am not the smartest sister on the stoop lol but he must have been pretty drunk not to realize it wasn’t Rachel🤷🏾‍♀️!! Ok that’s a different tale for a different platform!!

Can you imagine how Leah felt.. that her father used her as pawn.. As if she wasn’t good enough to be married to someone who actually wanted her as their wife! BUT not once did Leah complain. She was obedient and rather or not she agreed.. she complied. [Proverbs 3:5-6 ] ..she just trusted and did NOT lean to her own understanding... even if secretly she wondered “Maybe part of her thought that if Jacob could only get to know her... just maybe!”💕... Sounds like Leah had more going on than meets the eye! In those times children ESPECIALLY daughters were super obedient:

🙏🏾Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.. WHY? This was the 1st commandment that had a promise to it.. so if you did that... you would lengthen your days!! [Eph 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth

So there’s a reason We didn’t read Leah wasn’t having it and fled 🤷🏾‍♀️... because even though her father had devise this wicked scheme... she still honored her father by being respectful and obedient. Because contrary to what we want to read... nowhere in there does it list any stipulations: honor they parents IF they do right by you. IF they honor you. IF they not crack heads.. IF they ... Nawl! Read it again sis!!

HE wants it all... willingly NOT forcefully either. See, there’s something about a woman who will submit to HIS will.. and by doing that you immediately begin to honor who HE says honor. Submit to who HE says submit to... Love who HE says love.. This activates the other stuff like fruits of the spirit.. which COMPELS you to desire to pleasing in the sigh of HIM not him.. because guess what... as long as u are pleasing to HIM.. he sees and takes notice in that! Not how fine u are or how beautiful u are.. a man full of righteousness trust me ain’t studden that! Cuz he is of HIM.. [1 Samuel 16:7] #message.. Cuz in order to be able to give your all.. there is a price: obedience. Can you afford to pay up? Let’s see if Leah paid up..
