Self Control we know is an action word! So how do we even begin to control self? It all starts with a SOBER MIND! Can’t do anything without that! Hence today’s scripture: 1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
See, if we are always operating in the fruits of the spirit.. then we are already two steps ahead BUT.. know that pesky satan and his minions are lurking.. trying to find ways through people and/or situations to take you out of the spirit so that you act on the fleshy mindset.. This is why is it so careful to always be watchful of your “surroundings”.. one off moment can cause you to react when you should have used one of the other 6 tips we spoke about this week to aid I’m not reacting in a clamorous way.. but a calming way! When your mind is sober it means that you are focused on righteousness! All satan needs is a small opportunity to make a big impression! Don’t give em that satisfaction sis!! Stay on guard.. girded (1 Peter 1:13, Titus 2:12) That’s it!
Here is the gist! When we choose to being sober-minded it only means that we have made a righteous choice NOT to allow ourselves to be captivated (satan know how to push our buttons.. do u know how to push his??) but that pesky enemy by any and all types of influences that would lead us away from sound judgment... which causes us to act a plum fool out here.. The sober-minded individual is not More broadly, being sober-minded means that we do not allow ourselves to be captivated by any type of influence that would lead us away from sound judgment. See, a sober-minded individual is not “intoxicated,” figuratively speaking, and even while under pressure to lose self control.. they remain calm! Remember arguing only proves there are TWO FOOLS! Proverbs 26:4 is very clear! In closing.. always make sure to be sober in ur thoughts because it activates righteous thoughts which applies the Fruits of the Spirit!
So today we hit the 7th day mark! I pray all of these posts over the last few days REALLY challenges you to change! Application is always necessary!
